Abbot Stranahan, Chair

Family Member

As a member of the donor family’s third generation, Abby has been involved with Needmor for over 30 years. She is proud of Needmor’s history of funding community organizing and continues to enjoy working with others to sustain this commitment.

Ana Guerrero

Chief of Staff – Office of the Mayor of Los Angeles

Ana, a board member since 2007, brings 25 years of experience as a community organizer, government executive, and political activist to Needmor. Her commitment to the Fund is fueled by her firm belief that community organizing creates pathways to opportunity for individuals and social justice for communities.

Ann Stranahan

Family Member

Ann has been involved with Needmor since 1974, watching the Fund and the family become ever more knowledgeable as effective funders and spokespeople for community organizing, and watching grantees become ever more strategic and powerful. She considers Needmor's work vital, and states that her involvement with the Fund fills her with energy and gratitude.

Daniel Stranahan

Family Member

As treasurer, Daniel has not only helped to oversee the Fund’s investments, but has also played an active role in Needmor’s shareholder activism. But his real passion is documenting American life through the lens of his camera.

Elaine (Laine) Stranahan, Vice Chair

Family Member

A psycholinguistic researcher by day, Laine has worked in nonprofit endangered language documentation and became involved with community organizing in 2013. She views her work with the Needmor Fund as an important opportunity to bring critical social justice issues to the world of philanthropy.

Jeff Helmick

Jeff joined the board in the winter of 2018. He defended the criminally accused before his appointment as a federal district judge in 2012. Jeff is both excited and humbled to join the board at Needmor, and is in awe of its mission and many successes.

Jim Dickson, Secretary/Treasurer

Community Organizer

As a lifelong organizer, Jim considers it is an honor and privilege to serve on Needmor's board. He believes that the Fund’s understanding of community organizing and commitment to the work is unparalleled in the world of philanthropy.
